Speaking in December, Carter said: “I think I was – and probably still am – more comfortable than Ann was with going public with our relationship. “But that’s precisely because Ann is a very private person, whereas I’m more of a ‘everybody could know and I wouldn’t really care’ kind of person. “Over time and because I’ll say anything, he kind of gets used to it and goes with it. She doesn’t shout it from the rooftops about it, but equally when asked it’s no secret. “Not everyone is as comfortable announcing to the world who they are with, but I think the same is true of straight and gay relationships.” Carter suggested that going public with a same-sex relationship might be more difficult for more high-profile players. He continued: “I think for a lot of people it might depend on your profile, for example if you’re a bigger name player then you might check it more. “Also, if your family isn’t as comfortable with it, then it can be harder to go public. “So I think it depends on everyone’s private situation. And also, he might just see it as it’s nobody else’s business, so he might not want to tell. “So there could be many reasons, but whatever the situation, we should respect each other.” 10 Carter and Berger will face each other in tomorrow’s EuroCredit final: 10 The pair have won eight trophies together at ChelseaCredit: 10 Carter and Berger are both open about their relationshipCredit:
