Much Of Southern Ontario To Face April Snowstorm

Environment Canada issued a winter travel guide Monday for much of southern Ontario.
Most of the greater Toronto area is expected to receive between four and eight inches of snow, which will start Monday afternoon and last until Tuesday.
Toronto and the Niagara area are not currently subject to any updates, although there may be some snow.
The start of the rainy season is likely to start as rain on Monday afternoon, before turning to snow when temperatures drop, Environment Canada said.
Hamilton, Guelph, Kitchener, Blue Mountains, Owen Sound, Sarnia and Hanover could see three inches of snow per hour at the peak of the storm, Environment Canada said.
Markham, Aurora, Newmarket, Barrie, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Georgina, Pickering, Oshawa and Uxbridge are also subject to winter tips and are expected to snow up to eight inches.

“Visibility may drop suddenly at times in heavy snowfall,” Environment Canada said Monday.  “Be prepared to adapt your driving to changing road conditions.”
The winter weather will clear until Wednesday, when temperatures will rise to about 10 degrees, under sunny skies, in the greater Toronto area.

Ontario County Sheriff’s Office warns drivers to slow down and drive according to the weather after a serious collision on the 401 motorway near London on Monday afternoon.
Police said officers were “surprised” that there were no casualties when a truck hit the back of a truck on Highway 401 near Union Road.

The 401 freeway has been closed in the area while cleaning and the investigation continue, police said.
