DELTA – A deadly and devastating fire in a house killed three people inside. It happened on Saturday when the Delta house was suddenly engulfed in flames. Neighbor Dustie Murray said he saw the flames. “I parked my truck on the road, jumped out and ran to the EMTs because they were sitting there with oxygen and everything on them and I was sitting there with them talking to them,” Murray said. He said he and his family had come close to the family, having lived with them for the past eight years. Over the years, his sons, in particular, had come close to one of the neighbors who lost their lives in the fire. “His electric wheelchair and my boys, and my three boys – he was going out on this street right here and they were going to get their bikes and he was telling them ‘Ready, set, go!’ “They would just run each other up and down the street,” Murray said. Kristina Woodmaster is also a neighbor. She said that while she was worried the flames would catch fire in her home, firefighters and her family helped ensure the flames remained under control. “They started spraying our house because the air was still moving and coming towards our house. Luckily my father-in-law was here and heard the explosion and then he came out with the hose and started coming off the side of our house and the shed, “said Woodmaster. “Fortunately he did because if he had not done so, we would have lost the shed,” he said. Woodmaster said there were life lessons from this fire. “It definitely makes you think more about family and want to get in touch. I text my family all night and all morning, ‘I love you.’ I miss you. “We need to talk more,” Woodmaster said. Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire. ×
