Haskins, 24, was killed when he was struck by a dump truck on I-595 in South Florida on April 9. Ahead of Saturday’s spring bout, Ohio State paid tribute to its former star general by holding a minute’s silence at Ohio Stadium. The players and the coaching staff wore decals or “DH” pins.

1 Relevant Haskins’s initials were also placed on the pitch, near the 5-yard line. The current Buckeyes general, CJ Stroud, wore the Haskins No. 7 jersey as a personal tribute. During the Buckeyes 13-1 season in 2018, Haskins fired 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns – both the Big Ten and one-season school records. Haskins, the 2018 Big Ten Attacking Player of the Year and MVP of the Rose Bowl Offensive 2019, was selected 15th in the Washington NFL Draft 2019 draft. He was preparing to enter his second season with the Pittsburgh Steelers this fall.
