Grain exporter Oleksiy Vadaturksy, 74, and his wife Raisa died when a rocket hit their home in the southern city of Mykolaiv on Saturday night, the BBC reported. Vadaturksy owned the Ukrainian agricultural company Nibulon and was considered one of the war-torn nation’s most successful business figures. Mykolaiv, which is on the route to the critical port of Odessa, has come under heavy Russian bombardment since the country launched its invasion in February. An adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymy Zelensky claimed that Vadaturksy was targeted by Russian forces and that the missile landed in the bedroom of his home. The Kyiv Independent reported that Vadaturksy’s net worth was estimated at $400 million in 2021.
