The shooting occurred near the intersection of Maple Street and 10 Ave. UPDATE: 1:20 p.m Police have now confirmed that a woman was shot and seriously injured in Okanagan Falls on Saturday night. A press release from the BC RCMP says police were called to the small community at about 10 p.m. for reports of shots fired. “Officers responded and located a female victim suffering from serious injuries who was transported to the hospital,” the news release states. “With the assistance of the South East Regional Emergency Response Team, a male suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.” Police believe the suspect and victim were known to each other. UPDATE: 13.00 One person is in custody after a shooting in Okanagan Falls Saturday night. Details surrounding the shooting remain scarce, but Cpl. Laurie Rock of the Penticton RCMP confirms that police have arrested one person following the shooting. Residents tell Castanet it happened around 10pm near Maple Street and 10 Ave. “I can comment that this was an isolated incident and we have one male in custody. There is no current threat or danger to the public at this time,” said Cpl. Rock said in a brief emailed statement. He says the incident is still under investigation and police will release more detailed information about the shooting on Monday. Castanet has received multiple unconfirmed reports that one person was injured in the shooting and taken to the hospital. ORIGINAL: 10 a.m There was a heavy police presence in Okanagan Falls Saturday night after a shooting was reported in the small community. Several local residents say Castanet was shot near the corner of Maple Street and 10th Ave around 10pm Saturday night. It’s unclear if anyone was injured in the shooting, but police quickly swarmed the area. One resident says officers blocked off Eastside Road sometime Saturday night and were not letting vehicles travel south to Okanagan Falls. Castanet has reached out to the RCMP for more information about the shooting, as it is not known at this time if the RCMP have made any arrests. “Everybody’s wondering what’s going on, I don’t know if they got somebody or what,” said one resident in Castanet. “Nobody knows if we have a maniac running around.”
