Ottawa is seeing some signs of hope with COVID-19 in the city as sewage levels have fallen for the first time in several weeks. According to data from the Ottawa COVID-8 Sewage Monitor, the seven-day moving average viral signals have been reduced – albeit slightly, although levels are still near record lows. However, data on the effects of melting snow and other diluents that could affect the measurements are currently being studied. On Thursday, April 14, the Ottawa Public Health (OPH) reported 287 new cases in the area, as well as 1,837 active cases. Eighteen people are being treated for active infection with two in the ICU. There are still 48 cases in institutions.
