It comes just months after scientists using the Hubble Space Telescope announced the star’s existence. Earendel, named after a “Lord of The Rings” character, was discovered using Hubble’s gravitational capability. The star is 12.9 billion light-years from Earth, the most distant object ever recorded, according to NASA. Gravitational lensing extends the reach of telescopes by detecting objects through bent light from objects behind black holes....

Officers say Khellen Kirkness traveled to Thompson to visit family. She was last seen on July 26, 2022, leaving a home in Sandpiper Crescent to visit friends. Mounties says he hasn’t returned home yet, but sightings of Kirknes have been reported all over Thompson in recent days. He has not been in contact with family or the police. Kirkness is approximately 5’8″, 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes....
