Several Ontario hospitals reduced services in some areas over the weekend due to staff shortages, as an Ontario nurses union called on the province to address what it called an alarming situation. Emergency departments were to remain closed at Wingham and District Hospital from Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday and at Listowel Memorial Hospital for much of the day on Sunday. In Huron County, Seaforth Community Hospital said it would temporarily close its ER overnight because it was understaffed....

Laut einer Umfrage befürwortet die Mehrheit der Bürgerinnen und Bürger in Deutschland vor dem Hintergrund steigender Energiepreise das Tempolimit von 130 Stundenkilometern auf Autobahnen. In einer YouGov-Umfrage stimmten 57 Prozent der Befragten zu und 33 Prozent sagten, sie seien gegen das Tempolimit....

Weil Tourismus-Profis über Skilifte heulen, haben sie jetzt eine Debatte über den Stromverbrauch in den Alpen gestartet. Abschätzen können aber nur die Branche selbst oder die Schweizer Bergbahnen, welche Tragweite sie haben kann. Der Verband beziffert den jährlichen Energieverbrauch auf 183 Gigawattstunden. SWAT officers in armored vehicles surrounded an apartment complex near 66th Street and Osborn Road around 4:30 p.m. of Sunday. After hours of negotiations with authorities, 35-year-old Nicolas Cowan was taken into custody without “significant use of force”, according to police. Cowan is wanted in connection with an incident of domestic violence on Thursday in which he allegedly shot and injured a police officer. Preliminary information provided by police on Sunday night shows that Cowan suffered multiple gunshot wounds believed to have come from Thursday’s incident....
