According to a news release from Port Moody Police, the BC Ambulance Service and firefighters were called to Aspenwood Elementary School at 12:30 p.m. PT on Thursday in response to calls that many children were experiencing some reaction. A police statement said a substance, suspected of being a hot sauce, had been spread on “high-touch surfaces” in the school playground. “This incident seems to be a deliberate act and we are actively investigating the matter to determine who is responsible.” said in the statement Sam Zacharias. “Anyone with information or anyone who may have seen suspicious behavior on school premises today [Thursday] “Date is requested to call the police.” Seven children were treated at the scene for minor injuries after their eye exposure, according to the announcement. Police say some of the affected children went home with their parents after treatment.
