Akok Lual was shot while standing on the sidewalk outside Al’s Wine and Whiskey Lounge on South Clinton Street early Saturday morning, Syracuse Police Chief Kenton Buckner told a news conference Saturday afternoon. There was an argument before the shooting, Buckner said, but gave no further details about the dispute. Thomas Blake, Syracuse police spokesman. Five men aged 20-25 were shot. All five were rushed to Upstate University Hospital. Lual was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. A 23-year-old man is in critical condition, Blake said. The other three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, he said. The other four injured have not yet been identified. The shooting took place in an area with many popular bars and restaurants. Popular street spots include Al’s Wine and Whiskey Lounge, Three Lives, Clinton Street Pub and Funk ‘n Waffles. Several markers and loose clothing were strewn on the sidewalk outside Al’s Wine and Whiskey Lounge. The shooting occurred just meters from the popular bar, Blake said.
