A pregnant mother, her boyfriend, their toddler and three others were killed in a car crash allegedly caused by a drunken nurse. The high-speed crash happened around 2 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of La Brea and Slauson avenues in Los Angeles. Surveillance footage showed the vehicles on fire near a gas station. Asherey Ryan, 23, her one-year-old child Alonzo Luchiano, her unborn baby and his father Renald were pronounced dead at the scene. They were on their way to a doctor’s appointment for a pregnancy test when a Mercedes Benz crashed into them. Nicole Lindon, 37, a Texas nurse who works in California, was arrested and taken to a hospital, where she is cooperating with investigators, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times on Friday. Ryan was 8 1/2 months pregnant. “I’ve already cried. I cried. I didn’t sleep a bit. I’ve cried,” Ryan’s sister Sha’seana Kerr said on Instagram. “We have four people to bury.” Kerr said she immediately felt something was wrong when she saw the video of the fiery crash. “As soon as I see this video, it hit home, it was different. I felt connected,” Kerr wrote. “He takes my sister my nephews my brother-in-law. He took my son’s only cousin. We are so deeply hurt.’ California Highway Patrol spokesman Franco Pepi said three adults, a pregnant woman and an infant were killed, leaving one adult dead who has not been identified. Eight other people were injured in the accident. A GoFundMe page set up Friday afternoon says “the worst happened” on Thursday. “We need help with funeral expenses because they didn’t have insurance, so donations help,” she says. “Please let the family grieve in peace.” The page had raised more than $55,000 as of Friday night. Lindon is scheduled to be charged Monday by the Los Angeles County District Attorney. Her charges may include murdering an unborn child and six other people.
