Prince Charles’ charity, The Prince of Wales’ Charitable Fund, received a million pounds from Osama Bin Laden’s family in 2013. The Sunday Times, a UK-based publication, reported that Charles, 73, took personal money from Bakr Bin Laden and brother Shafiq. A spokesman for Clarence House disputed some of the claims in the report but confirmed the charity had accepted the money. Bakr serves as the head of the Saudi Arabian family, and both men are half-brothers to the mastermind behind al-Qaeda. Clarence House told Fox News Digital in a statement: “The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Trust has assured us that due diligence was carried out in accepting this donation. PRINCE CHARLES DENIES INJUSTICE ON BAD POLITICIAN CLAIM The Sunday Times reported that Charles accepted the funds despite receiving different advice from Clarence House and the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund (PWCF). A spokesman for Clarence House told Fox News’ Digital that Charles did not personally accept the donation. The Sunday Times also reported that Charles had been advised to return the donation, however a spokesman for Clarence House disputed those claims on Fox News Digital on Saturday. They are related to Osama through their father, Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden. He became the richest non-royal after founding the BinLadin Group, the newspaper said. He died in a plane crash in 1967. Charles’ office denied there was any wrongdoing for the heir to the British throne to accept bags full of cash as charitable donations from a Qatari politician. Charles is Queen Elizabeth’s eldest son and heir to the British throne. (Hannah McKay) The Sunday Times reported last month that Charles was given a total of 3 million euros, or $3.2 million, by Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, the former prime minister of Qatar. The agency said the money was delivered to the British prince during private meetings between 2011 and 2015 — once in a suitcase and another in shopping bags from London department store Fortnum & Mason. He did not claim anything illegal was done. Charles’ office, Clarence House, said in a statement that the donations “went straight to one of the prince’s charities who carried out appropriate governance and assured us that all the correct procedures were followed”. There was no governance failure.” Qatar’s government communications office did not immediately respond to The Associated Press’ request for comment. Hamad has not commented publicly.
