Around 5pm on Monday 11 April, police observed a vehicle speeding near Foothills Boulevard and Fifth Avenue. The car radar confirmed the speed of the vehicle at 110 km / h in the 60 km / h zone. The police stopped the traffic with the vehicle and noticed that the driver only had a category 7 “N” license or a beginner. The vehicle was confiscated for seven days and the driver issued infringement cards for speeding and for failing to mark “N”. In total, the driver received $ 477 in tickets. He will also be responsible for towing fees and seizure fees when he picks up his car. “Fortunately, the bad decision of this driver did not lead to any harm to other road users,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper of Prince George RCMP. According to the ICBC, speed is a contributing factor to 28 percent of fatal road accidents. Prince George RCMP said he wanted to remind drivers that you are not only putting yourself at risk when speeding, but all other motorists and pedestrians on the road around you.
