COVID-19 has claimed five more lives in the province. The latest COVID numbers are available today, the first update since last Wednesday. There are 34 people in the hospital due to the virus, six of whom are in intensive care. Confirmed COVID cases are reduced. Official figures show 79 new confirmed cases to date, 109 on Sunday, 137 on Saturday and 176 on Friday. The official numbers are based on PCR tests and residents who choose to record their positive fast tests online. The bulk of hospitalizations are in the East Health area with 17, with eight in Western Health, five in Central and four in Labrador-Grenfell Health.
