A tornado warning issued around 3 p.m. for Clearwater County was canceled an hour later. Tornado watches are currently in effect for areas around Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House and Airdrie. A tornado was also seen touching down outside Coronation, Alta. earlier on Monday. The weather service is also watching for several severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel- to ping-pong ball-sized hail and heavy rain. Yellowhead County near Edson and Sundance Provincial Park. Yellowhead County near Peers and Niton Junction. Woodlands County near Benbow and Windfall. Woodlands County near Carson-Pegasus Provincial Park. Woodlands County near Goose Lake. Woodlands County near Whitecourt and Blue Ridge. Great Lakes MD near Driftpile, Faust and Kinuso. MD of Big Lakes near Slave Lake and Saulteaux. Northern Sunrise County near Cadotte Lake and Swampy Lake Preserve. Northern Sunrise County near the Utikoomak Reserves.

Environment Canada recommends taking cover immediately if threatening weather approaches, warning of heavy rainfall causing flash flooding and damage or injury from large hail. Lightning also kills and injures Canadians every year. Heat warnings remain in effect for much of the province. Severe thunderstorm watches are also in effect for many areas.
