Patrick Grady and Patricia Gibson are believed to have received the findings of an independent investigation and were asked to respond to allegations that first surfaced in the Daily Record. North Glasgow MP Grady resigned from his role as the lead whip for the SNP in Westminster after allegations were made by that newspaper in March last year. A young Nat employee has filed complaints against Grady and the MP for North Ayrshire and Arran in 2021. The SNP is called upon to suspend the couple after the reports. Scottish Liberal Democrat Wendy Chamberlain said: “Political parties should support the independent inquiry process. As there has been a temporary finding of misconduct, these MPs should now be suspended until the full process is completed. “The SNP has voiced outrage at the Conservatives’ misbehavior. It must recognize that the same standards they demand of others must apply to them.” The leader of the Scottish Conservatives, Steven Kerr, said: “It seems that Nicola Sterzon’s party has once again failed victims of alleged sexual harassment. “The SNP has shown a complete lack of transparency and has tried to put these horrific incidents under the rug in the hope that people will forget them. “The victims deserve something better than being treated afterwards by the SNP who continue to wrap themselves in the rain.” Following complaints of inaction from the SNP, the complainant is believed to have transferred his claims to the Westminster Independent Complaints and Appeals System, which deals with complaints against members of parliament. Our exclusive front page in March last year told how a young SNP employee in Westminster had made allegations of sexual harassment against two MPs. He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture, but that his confession had been obtained through torture. He also claimed that another MP had harassed him at Westminster’s Strangers’ Bar in January 2020. Patricia Gibson, who represents North Ayrshire and Arran, is the MP at the center of the latest allegations, which she denies. He continues to serve on the front bench of SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford. The clerk had told us about Grady’s incident: “I was sitting on a couch talking to colleagues and he perched on the side of the couch. “At that point, he started to put his fingers on the back of my collar, touching me inappropriately there. It also caught my hair. “ The story shocked Westminster and led Grady, who represents Northeastern Glasgow, to step down as head coach. The employee is believed to have made complaints through the Westminster Independent Complaints and Appeals Program. According to the Sunday Times, allegations of sexual harassment against the two MPs have been substantiated by a Westminster authority and referred to an independent panel of experts. The staff member claimed that Grady touched him inappropriately at London’s Water Poet pub when he was 19 in 2016, and also says that Gibson, the SNP’s spokesman for housing, teased him at the Strangers’ Bar in parliament in January 2020. In March 2021, the complainant said of Grady’s incident: “I was sitting on a couch talking to colleagues and he perched on the side of the couch. “At that point, he started to put his fingers on the back of my collar, touching me inappropriately there. “He also grabbed my hair.” How the Daily Record broke the original story (Image: Daily Record) Gibson denies the employee’s allegations, while Grady resigned from his role as head whip. Speaking to Record last year, the complainant attacked the SNP for its inaction: “The SNP handled it very badly and did almost nothing. “They showed every interest in keeping two deputies in place.” The complaints, according to the Sunday Times, were accepted and referred to an independent panel of experts. Members of Parliament may be suspended or expelled. A spokesman for the program told the newspaper he had not commented on individual cases. The Daily Record contacted Patrick Grady and Patricia Gibson for comment. A SNP spokesman told the Daily Record: “It would not be legal to comment on the ongoing parliamentary process.” To subscribe to the Daily Record Politics newsletter, click here.
