The victim met a rescue team at Penzance Harbor in Cornwall on Thursday after the suspected shark bite. Shark attacks in UK waters are rare and this would be the first report of an injury since 2018. A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Service said: “HM Coastguard dispatched the Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team to meet a snorkeler suspected of being bitten by a shark. “The coast guard was notified just before 12.30 noon on Thursday, July 28. The swimmer is believed to have suffered a leg injury. “The coastguard team met the casualty in Penzance harbor to help hand him over to the care of the ambulance service.” Read more: How public appeal helped British scientists uncover shark secrets The local ambulance service confirmed that paramedics were called to an incident on the coast in Penzance and a patient was taken to hospital in Truro. In 2018, a fisherman was bitten on the leg by a shark after transporting the animal to his boat off the coast of Cornwall.
