LOS ANGELES – A suspect is in custody after driving officers in a wild chase and long-running confrontation at a train yard in Boyle Heights. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office units began stalking the vehicle around 2:10 p.m. on Highway 5 heading north near Highway 605 in the Downey area. The suspect, believed to be in a stolen vehicle, drove police through Santa Fe Springs, Montebello, East LA and South Gate units. Eventually it got off the highway and led to shallow roads. The driver of this black SUV eventually crashed into a fence in the area of ​​Noakes Street and South Hicks Avenue and drove onto the train tracks until the vehicle became disabled. The passenger side tire detached in the area of ​​Noakes and Calzona streets in Boyle Heights.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and tried to escape on foot. SkyFOX spotted the suspect running on several rails trying to avoid the police. It seems that he thought for a while about jumping on a moving train. He then returned to the vehicle causing a collision. LASD deputies were positioned near the truck with their weapons drawn. The LASD called on its Special Enforcement Bureau to assist MPs already at the scene of the long-running dispute between authorities and the persecution suspect. The suspect blocked the windows of the vehicle by adding car sunshades to the dashboard and cardboard to the side windows. Around 5:30 p.m. a military-type vehicle slowly began to approach the suspect’s SUV. Within about 10 minutes the suspect got out of the vehicle, without a shirt, and surrendered to the authorities.
He was taken into custody. The suspect was armed with a pistol.
