While the highway is back open to travel, provincial fire marshal Jeff Motty says if the winds blow out of the southwest, it’s likely to be closed again. He says winds will be out of the northeast this morning, but are forecast to change in the afternoon. Motty says our Labrador border neighbors are helping us, the same way this province helped in B.C. last year. He says they have four water bombers on deck today to put out, with reinforcements from Quebec coming in to handle any other fires coming from the central area. Bay d’Espoir Highway (Rt 360) is currently open. If you must go this route, proceed with caution. Drive slowly and don’t stop. #GovNL #nltraffic #nlwx pic.twitter.com/PRuCpkDMjk — Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture NL (@FFA_GovNL) August 4, 2022
