Shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, OC Transpo released a brief message saying all service between St-Laurent and Cyrville stations will use the eastbound platforms. The tweet said only “technical issues. Riders had to change trains at St-Laurent. Line 1: All services at Cyrville and St-Laurent on the eastbound platforms only due to a technical issue. OC Transpo said regular service was restored at about 12:45 p.m., but did not elaborate. On Twitter, riders reported seeing a stopped train on the eastbound line at St-Laurent. All had to disembark at St Laurent. We are now waiting for another train which will continue westbound towards the city centre. The train on the opposite platform has stopped. The rider also said he was thankful LRT staff were on duty because “it’s honestly pretty confusing.” Full LRT service resumed Friday after more than four days of repairs. The main issue was that a section of the O-Train’s overhead catenary network had been damaged by lightning last Sunday. The damage occurred between Lees and uOttawa stations. Tuesday through Friday, OC Transpo ran trains between Blair and St. Laurent and Rideau and Tunney’s Pasture Stations. The bus replacement system R1 was installed between these zones. Meanwhile, OC Transpo boss Renée Amilcar said in a message Saturday that further inspections of hubs on trains would require slower speeds on operating trains and slightly longer travel times.

Twenty vehicles were towed last week after a wheel hub on a train failed. After this, all trains with more than 175,000 kilometers of service were pulled over for inspection and their axle hubs were to be replaced. Amilcar said on Saturday there were 11 double-carriage trains running since Saturday. He said the car manufacturers had asked OC Transpo to reduce speeds on certain sections of the track while the investigation continued. “Due to lower speeds, customers will see a slight change in journey times. The end-to-end service will be an additional four to five minutes,” Amilcar said. OC Transpo says the typical end-to-end time is less than 25 minutes.
