Firefighters battling the blaze Credit: Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service Crews were called at 10.23am. to a fire at an industrial site in Ranskill. Huge clouds of smoke can be seen coming from the fire and locals are being asked to keep their windows and doors closed while they battle the flames. Two people who lived at the site are being treated by East Midlands Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation. Crews are being assisted by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service. Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue say large crowds are now gathering near the fire and are urging people to stay away from the area for their own safety as crews continue to arrive and tackle the blaze. Area manager Andy Macey, the incident commander, said: “We thank our partners in Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire fire and rescue services for their support. “We ask the public not to congregate near the site as they are putting themselves at risk and obstructing our work. “We are likely to be on stage for some time, so we thank the audience for their patience.”
