Disgruntled air show goers took to social media Friday night and Saturday morning to share stories of a long lineup and what they described as poor traffic control. Some claimed to have waited up to four hours to get into the show. In a statement on its Twitter account, the air show said it was “extremely sorry” for the delays and was “adjusting” plans to allow for “faster entries on Saturday and Sunday”. “We sincerely apologize to the many disappointed Airshow fans battling traffic crews to get into the gate tonight,” the statement read in part. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had large gatherings and we’re truly grateful for the overwhelming support of the Airshow. We’ve been working with our partners with Abby PD, increased our gate capacity, and added volunteers in the parking lot.” Many of those complaining about the situation on social media have asked if refunds will be issued. CTV News reached out to the air show for more information about any plans to compensate those affected by the large lineup. This story will be updated if a response is received.

We sincerely apologize to the many disappointed Airshow fans battling the traffic crews to get into the gate tonight. It has been a long time since there have been any big gatherings and we are truly grateful for the overwhelming support of the Airshow. — Abbotsford Airshow (@AbbyAirshow) August 6, 2022 The gates say they will close at 7:30, we’ve been out for almost 2 hours. We might not make it by closing, will we get our money back?! — Sarah Mitchell (@sassmitchell) August 6, 2022 How funny! We sat in traffic and went nowhere for two hours and finally had to give up as our two kids lost their minds and we wouldn’t have even made it by 7pm. Thanks so much for the disaster, Abbotsford Airshow. You owe us. — StevieT 🇨🇦 🇺🇦 (@Dapotayto1) August 6, 2022
