The Salvation Army is doing its bit to help those stranded by the closure of the Bay d’Espoir motorway. The group has served more than 170 people and says they are working alongside other community groups to provide food, water and support to those stranded as wildfires continue to spread along the highway. The Grand Falls-Windsor Emergency Disaster Services team is on the ground on Bay d’Espoir Highway serving meals to commuters waiting to get through due to the wildfires.
