After their death, there was a huge outburst of grief in the city. Dozens of tributes, including Manchester United shirts and photos of friends, have been left on the corner of Cardigan Street. Yesterday (Sunday) the families of Lewis and Harry paid tribute to their “precious” and “dear” sons. Paying tribute to Harry, who worked as a plumber, his family said: “Words can not describe what it’s like to lose our youngest child, Harry – our son – in such a tragic way. Our hearts are broken. His life and death will touch many people – especially those who love him dearly. Harry was 20 years old, an affectionate, kind and thoughtful young man; so full of life – happy in his job as a plumber with all his life in front of him. “We want to thank all the first responders who tried to save the lives of both Harry and his friend and supported the other people involved in the horrific incident. We are truly humiliated by the outpouring of love and support from the community and from Lewis’s friends and family. “It reinforced what we already knew; that everyone who knew him loved him and loved him. The family would like to thank everyone for the hundreds of kind, positive messages they received. We are so grateful and he brought so much comfort in this horrible moment.” The couple, from Royton, were riding a yellow Suzuki off-road motorcycle when the accident occurred just before 11am. Their deaths are being investigated by the Greater Manchester Police Serious Conflict Investigation Unit.
