A fire ban remains in effect for the Metro area. The regional fire department of St. John’s reports that with current conditions and the upcoming forecast, there is a high fire risk due to a lack of heavy rainfall as opposed to the dry heat of the past two weeks. The ban covers backyard fires, fireplaces, charcoal barbecues and open fires. The fire department also urges people to be careful when using propane stoves and barbecues.
