Despite facing one of the most dangerous knockout punches in the history of the heavyweight division, Pavlovic showed no fear in coming out and engaging Lewis right away. A right hand from Pavlovich tagged Lewis early and the former title contender was immediately in trouble as he tried to recover. Pavlovich floored his opponent with a barrage of shots with Lewis eventually falling to the canvas with referee Dan Miragliotta quickly jumping in to stop the fight. Lewis was on his feet almost immediately as he complained about the stoppage, but it was too late as Pavlovich began to celebrate his victory. “I was ready to beat him for five rounds, for three rounds, it doesn’t matter,” Pavlovic said afterward. “How do you like this boxing? I did my job. I am very happy with my performance.” Obviously, Pavlovich was just doing his job, but a huge win will likely be marred by the controversial stoppage with Lewis’ crowd booing quite loudly after the fight. Regardless of how it happened, Pavlovich has now scored his fourth straight win overall with all of his wins coming via knockout or TKO with no opponent going past the first round. The win would also earn Pavlovich a higher ranking after taking out a veteran like Lewis, as it signals that a new contender has arrived in the heavyweight division.
