Following the incident, the South Molton Fire Department posted about the fire on their Facebook page. Along with a link to the fire department event page, the crew also posted a photo taken from the spot. In the picture, the fire seems to be raging in buildings on the farm. The flame is so intense that you can see the frames of the buildings with the rest of the construction being dissolved by the flames. Initially, two fire trucks rushed to the scene, one from Barnstaple and one from South Molton, along with an officer. However, after watching the scene, a water carrier was requested from Barnstaple and two more police officers attended due to the seriousness of the incident. Crews located that the property was now a fully developed large fire containing many caravans, machinery and rollers. Two other fire engines were called in to put out the blaze, one from Brownon and one from Thorrington. An aerial platform ladder was also requested, which was transported from the Castle of the Danes to Exeter. The barn was considered to contain hazardous materials and an environmental protection unit from South Molton was mobilized. Another water carrier was also invited to attend the Castle of the Danes in Exeter. The incident management unit from Ilfracombe was also present, and later a unit from Martock. After the fire, crews confirmed that the barn had been completely destroyed, but all the people at the scene were recorded. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said they believed the cause of the fire was “accidental”.
