Victoria Park was alight with lanterns of all shapes and sizes on Sunday. The annual festival was set for Saturday but was bumped to Sunday due to weather. It was the right call, as hundreds were drawn to the downtown St. John’s park in warm, sunny and breezy conditions. The festival culminated with a lantern light show in the softball field, with the glow illuminating the sky and lush park surroundings. Some of the unique creations included a dragon, a version of Fred’s Records store, and even a kraken. The festival ran from early afternoon until 10:30 last night, with musical performances, kids’ games, community booths, workshops, a barbeque and canteen food. The lantern procession itself included jugglers, acrobats and stilt walkers.
