The Metropolitan Police were called to multiple reports of a man with a gun in Creek Road, Greenwich, south-east London shortly after 2.30pm on Friday evening. Eyewitnesses described hearing a “big bang” as officers confronted the suspect on the side of a bridge. The man appeared to be “clearly traumatised”, according to onlooker Gemma Daly. “The police were tending to a man on the side of the bridge,” Ms Daly, 31, said. Officers removed his clothes, with “several people” working on the man before placing him on a stretcher, he added. Police then “started circling” a silver car pictured on the bridge, Ms Daly said. Emergency services rushed to the scene, including medics from the London Air Ambulance. The man was taken as a priority to a major trauma centre, a London Ambulance Service spokesman said. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
