When launching the WhatsApp Communities, Mark Zuckerberg said, “We created the WhatsApp Communities to make it much easier for you to organize all your group chats and find information.” Adding to that, Zuckerberg says, “We’re also adding new features to WhatsApp groups, including responses, sharing large files, and larger group calls.” Find out more about WhatsApp Communities, how administrators can manage their WhatsApp Communities, and how secure their operation is.
What are WhatsApp Communities?
WhatsApp Communities will allow people to “group individual groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them.” WhatsApp believes that this way, users will receive all the updates related to a community that is formed around a topic. As shown in the title image, WhatsApp Communities will group multiple groups and allow administrators to send messages to all groups at once.
WhatsApp Community Administrators will be able to control chats
Administrators will be responsible for creating and managing Communities on WhatsApp. Administrators will be able to choose which groups can become part of their community, either create new groups or add existing groups. In addition, group managers will be able to disconnect groups from the Community and also be able to remove individual members of the Community. Additionally, group managers will be able to delete inappropriate or abusive conversations or multimedia for all members of a group.
Will WhatsApp Communities be safe?
Given the private nature of chats in these close communities, WhatsApp will continue to protect messages by end-to-end encryption so that only members of the respective groups can see them and no one else. This security technology protects sensitive conversations between organizations, workplaces and personal groups.
