“This decision was taken following an investigation carried out by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command. “Mr Chail, 20, was charged with threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon and an offense under the Treason Act 1842. “The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that the criminal proceedings against Mr Chail are active and that he is entitled to a fair trial.” He will next appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 17. The last person to be convicted under the act was Marcus Sarjaent in 1981, who was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to firing blanks at the Queen during the Trooping of the Colour. Mr Singh Chail from Southampton is currently being held in custody ahead of his court appearance later this month.
