Mark Shelby – Jamie Jones

11: 00-14: 39

Selby 6-2 Jones (27-71)

At 43 Jamie can not get one of the last two reds and must play safely. It’s a beauty, Mark on both balls snooker and gives eight fouls. When Mark escapes, he leaves a red in the left middle, and that should be it. Jamie puts on red and blue and Mark needs three snookers. Selby 6-2 Jones (27-31)

Jamie answers with 14 before losing his place in the black and has to play again to get stuck. He later loses touch with the reds, giving four and a look at a red bottom left, but Mark strangely loses it and Jamie returns. He is about to spoil again, but a wonderful recovery bin in yellow keeps him going, and what an opportunity for him now.

Selby 6-2 Jones (23-0)

The divider is displayed so that the entire Crucible can see this final frame, which you would think Jamie should just win. It’s a bad start, however, as it leaves a red to the left in the middle of the break, which Mark lodges to land on the blue. Everything goes for Mark as he angrily swings a black bottom right, but then loses a harder one in the same pocket and is an opportunity for Jamie to turn the tide here.

Selby 6-2 Jones

We looked nailed for 3-3, but another great break from Mark, this time with 129, extends his lead to four frames. It’s such a good watch when it hits that groove.

Selby 5-2 Jones (50-0)

It’s another half century for Mark, who is now looking for the player who has won four of the last eight world titles. He is doing great now and we could have another tone on the road. At our other table, Xhao Xintong leads Jamie Clarke 7 to the end of their session.

Selby 5-2 Jones (30-0)

Mark left in frame eight again and began to look ominous, opening the bunch of black to reach 24 and they are separated like a practice table. Jamie is in real time here and the evening session to complete this match can become standard.

Selby 5-2 Jones

We do not get the tone, but a 73 by Selby is enough for the frame.

Selby 4-2 Jones (52-6)

It’s not easy with blacks roaring in red, but Mark calmly chooses one half tone and puts another. Although he lost a yellow shock to extend the previous frame, he has started to overtake the gears here and is only a few balls away from extending his lead.

Selby 4-2 Jones (19-6)

Jones takes the first look at the seventh frame, but can not use capital, and a lost red bottom right soon leaves Mark a simple start. It’s far away again and this may bother Jamie who will have to bury the frustration he lost the previous frame from so far away.

Selby 4-2 Jones

The yellow and green go before Mark puts a snooker in the coffee. Jamie escapes, but Mark falls into the cafe and a one-frame epic ends!

Selby 3-2 Jones (84-63)

Mark lands a great snooker, white tight behind the black, which gives 16 points in fouls as Jamie repeatedly fails to escape two pillows. It is understandable, as a blow will leave it lit. Jamie eventually connects the full ball, but the yellow is in his pocket and Mark needs that and the green.

Selby 3-2 Jones (68-63)

Oh my word! In the colors and needed until blue, Mark loses the yellow from his place and that is still alive. We are in a tense battle for colors now, as Mark re-enters but leaves nothing.

Selby 3-2 Jones (49-59)

Jamie comes in-off, and from D Mark drains a long red to land on the black. He could go back to that right now, and he does. a rapid 48 closes the gap in the frame before turning a thin red on the lower right with the full set of cue extensions. Jamie is in real danger of losing this now and will condemn these ill-conceived rules.

Selby 3-2 Jones (0-59)

Now it buzzes around the table! Jamie is clearly excited about the victory of the previous frame, but if nothing else he plays a little too fast. He misjudges a rule in the red and, although it seemed impossible, fails to land on any other and his break stops at 45. It may not be very costly as Mark leaves a safe, but again Jamie does not can seal the frame as it breaks at six and must play safely. At the other table, Zhao Xintong led Jamie Clarke 6-1.

Selby 3-2 Jones (0-25)

Jamie picks up four of Mark’s fouls, then throws a red one into his yellow pocket to enter frame six. He soon joins the gang and quickly takes black in his place, and this quickly turned into a very good opportunity indeed.

Selby 3-2 Jones

This will excite Jamie endlessly as he empties the table for a 60 that sorts the box.

Selby 3-1 Jones (46-46)

Jamie calmly chooses 27 before going up for the last red near the upper right rail. He takes it with the rest in the green pocket and drains it, before passing the corners from the blue to almost land on the yellow. Jamie does the same with the others. can you clear in pink to get the frame? They are all in their place ….

Selby 3-1 Jones (46-11)

Mark regains his position after landing straight on a red down to the right and using a deep screw and the back side to get out of a pillow and land on the black. His break reaches 45 as he throws the black and tickles three reds, but that leaves only a hard red on the left rail, which he can not convert. Can Jamie counterattack here?

Selby 3-1 Jones (1-11)

We’re back and Mark slips a long red down right, but he can not land in a baulk color. Jamie then grabs his first chance after a long time, cutting a red bottom left and landing on the blue. He goes wrong at 11, however as he lands low on black and does it lower left, and Mark is in.

Selby 3-1 Jones

Here is the world champion. As the break reaches 69, Mark secures the frame, but hits the groove now and turns it into a great 134 overall clearance. There are also many mistakes when our referee rediscovers the yellow and accidentally picks up and rediscovers a red, to Mark’s great fun. A two-frame lead in the interval then, we will return in 15 minutes.

Selby 2-1 Jones (54-0)

It’s half a century upside down for Mark as another black deposit. There are eight reds left, all bright. the box seems unavoidable on this visit and we may well have a ton of inbound as well.

Selby 2-1 Jones (30-0)

An attempt by security guard by Jamie leaves a red bottom left. Mark devours it and quickly opens the package. This is an offensive shot, and the feeling that Mark is now finding his rhythm is confirmed when he throws a midfield red in his yellow pocket to continue. In the other table, Zhao Xintong led 3-0 over Jamie Clarke.

Selby 2-1 Jones

It’s our first half ton in the race as Mark lets his hand empty the table for a break 71.

Selby 1-1 Jones (60-18)

Mark seems reasonably rusty so far, but he is going to take the lead soon. A quick 36 and the count leaves Jamie needing a snooker and more are coming.

Selby 1-1 Jones (22-18)

A shock from Jamie here, as he makes an absolute hit of a position shot on black and instead gets a blue in the green pocket, losing a lot. They are buggy here as Mark then comes out of a safe. His long game does not happen either, as he loses a red on the right at a huge distance. But there is an opportunity now, as Jamie misses a long red and serves an easy player.

Selby 1-1 Jones (22-0)

Mark takes a look at one plant to start frame three. The reds will go everywhere if he succeeds – something he does, he scatters properly and lands perfectly on the black! Another plant a few shots later regains its position when it looked like it was gone, and after being pushed to the pink down left, Mark is in control of the break again. But what is this? He missed a blue routine in the right half and gave Jamie a great chance.

Selby 1-1 Jones

Will he do that? a 43 from Selby is enough for the frame.

Selby 0-1 Jones (42-2)

The great security of the table turns it into a very dangerous frame and it is Mark who enters with a red dead weight in the right middle to land on the pink. He has added 24 and counts and there are so many to win the frame on this visit.

Selby 0-1 Jones (18-2)

It’s early, but Jamie is in charge right now. It takes two reds down as shots at anything, but it can not apply colors to them. However, Mark has not calmed down yet, and he’s badly missing a red on the bottom right. He is now, red to the right in the middle, and has a chance to take his hand. However, an early break in the package from the coffee does not work, and it is the end of the break at 18.

Selby 0-1 Jones

The pink ball frame goes to take this short break at 35, and the red with the rest that follows soon ends the argument. A total of 41 banks the first framework for Jamie.

Selby 0-0 Jones (4-43)

Jamie scores 24 before losing the white ball and playing safely. But he soon gets another chance as Mark makes a mess in a safety net, grabbing the jaws of the lower right side and leaving a red to the left in the middle. The reds are open now and there is a load for him, this is a great opportunity to get the frame.

Selby 0-0 Jones (4-17)

Here we go, we will have nine frames this morning and a space in the middle of the session after four of them. It’s an immediate drama, as Mark tries a subtle contact safety in a red, can see the whole ball and is warned that if he loses again, he will throw the frame. This instead requires a dead weight escape, which leaves a red in that Jamie can not connect in the lower right corner. It’s a lot of mistakes early on, as none of the players have settled down yet. Jamie has the first chance, throwing a red shooter from the lower left ankle joint and into the yellow pocket, and enters.
